My fascination with the industrial and utilitarian stems from an appreciation of objects that have moved our country into this contemporary age. Importance is around us, often met in the most seemingly mundane and discounted places.  These paintings are based on a remembrance or a concept the subject evokes, be it a person, place or object. Often specific details from the experience are enhanced or erased. There is a hierarchy to history either by time or want. I interpret memory and render a history.  Throughout the process of the work, a multitude of oil, oil enamels and drawing tools are used. The work has multiple of layers, as does the subject.  When physically in the process of the work, I often rub, sand, scrape, etch, and razor the painted surface to expose the layers. In doing this, the actual record of the painting is revealed.

Surface of Time
~ An Artiist's Statement ~

I have been dealing with surface issues and concepts of time and space in this latest work. At the same time maintaining a strong link to my industrial identity to attempt work that exhibits the relationship between the natural and man made. To this work, there is more of an element of my stream of consciousness where I filter even more of my everyday into each painting.  The contrast that results extends a dynamic that I hope reaches my audience on both a personal & historical level.
