...is the inventor of PF Paint. It is a water based paint made
from Natural plant fiber. As the paint dries, it becomes
paper. Using her technique, PF paint is more sculptural
than flat, actually placing pigmented bits of plant fiber onto a
black fiber background…bringing light from darkness. By
applying this pulverized plant fiber with a porcupine quill, it
is possible to build a surface that creates a sense of fleeting
illusion as well as a textural form that invites touching.
Several coats of PF paint are applied
to acid-free canvas forming the painting surface. The paint is
plant fiber pulp mixed with the same pigments used in fine art
paints. This paint has the consistency similar to oatmeal. It
is applied using a knife, a pin, and a porcupine quill. A final
matte acrylic coating provides an extra layer of protection
allowing the work to be hung unframed.
